Set Both Business and Personal Goals
Your business goals should be presented in your business plan and your personal goals should be part of a personal development plan. Between the two sets of goals, everything that really matters to you should be considered.
Goals Should Be Realistic
In order to make a positive difference in your life, the goals that you set should be attainable. If your goals are preposterous and cannot possibly be reached, that can cause a negative impact on your self being rather than a positive one.
Goals Should Be Specific
If you are looking for the outcome of being financially independent and enjoying financial freedom and time freedom, your goals need to include specific performances that will lead to that outcome.
Arrange Your Goals in Short-Term and Long-Term Goals
In order to fulfill your long term goals, it may be necessary for you to other things to get there. Saving money, improving your knowledge or skill through education, building relationships and so forth may be made a part of your short time goals of performance that will lead to achieving the long term goals and desired outcomes.
As a life coach I emphasize setting goals as well as balancing them between your personal life and business life. Breaking the goals down to short-term goals that will lead to long-term goal fulfillment provides encouragement to "keep on keeping on" each time that you achieve a goal.
Each little thing that you accomplish is part of a bigger picture. Setting
goals makes it possible for you to live with a purpose with solid direction of
where you are going.
Goals
by Zig Ziglar is probably the best guide of goal setting and achievement that I
have ever came across. It encouraged me to make my goals attainable and to put
them down on paper. I no longer lose perspective about what I am doing and why
I am doing it. Every day of my life has meaning because my
life path
is
defined.
