In your business plan you did marketing research so you are positive you are offering a product or service that is needed and wanted by a group of people...

You answered the questions:

Your marketing plan will consist of activities that you like to do that will attract people that you want to do business with. Your marketing mix will fit your personality and the the characteristics of your target market.

When people are looking for answers, they turn to the Internet and and search engines. Anybody can pay for top positioning through pay per click marketing... but this can get expensive in quickly.

There was a time when people used tricks to get in the top search engine positions, but search engines have gotten smarter. Now, if you try to trick them, your site will be penalized and could even be dropped from the search engines.

You can still get on the first page a search engine naturally for popular keywords if you build an optimized website. Smart website marketers are using natural search engine optimization techniques based on keyword research.

Writing web content that educates on the subject at hand makes visitors and search engines equally happy. What are people in your target market looking for that you can provide? If you don't know, it's time to do some keyword research.

While it is wise to create a free to low-cost marketing plan if that is all you can afford, there is a time to money trade off...
the less money you spend, the more time you will be investing.

Both short-term and long-term goals need to be set along with short-term and long-term marketing strategies. Examining multiple marketing techniques will enable you to see the whole picture and to develop better strategies to lead you to success.

At the same time, it is important to focus on the chosen marketing strategies – using them, evaluating them and improving them. It is so easy to get distracted, trying this and trying that, which can minimize the effectiveness of your market mix as well as making a big dent in your marketing budget.

Internet marketing success does not happen overnight or by accident.
